Scars

Treatment for scars

Nowadays it is possible to cover scars and make them almost or totally invisible. Scars are fibrous connective tissues, a response to an injury, which makes possible the healing and joining of the wound edges.

On the scalp, scars have several origins listed below:

  • Accidents, burns;
  • After a hair transplant surgery, linear white scar souvenir of a previous FUT or on the contrary white dots on the back of the scalp product of a previous FUE with a very large punch on the donor area;
  • Inflammatory response.

In most of the cases, it is all about attenuate the visibility of the scar, notably in patients after multiple hair transplant surgeries.

What are the solutions?

Lipostructure:

First of all, the lipostructure, or most commonly known as fat injection, is used to enhance the tissue trophicity, to soften the scarring or the fibrous area.

The lipostructure consists in taking fat from the body under local anaesthesia and reinjecting it after centrifugation in the scar tissue.

Fat, adipose tissues contain a lot of stem cells which can really regenerate, can repair damaged tissues.

In the case of indurate scar, fat injection is essential in order to obtain a positive outcome of a future hair transplant.

Furthermore, fat injection induces a new vascularisation and a hair transplant can be considered.

Hair transplant FUE:

Hair transplant FUE is often considered to cover a scar too noticeable, nevertheless before a potential hair transplant, a fat injection treatment in the damaged tissue will be the first step. To properly grow, a graft needs to be vascularised, it can be possible if we implant the graft more deeply and in this way, we avoid the fibrous area, or by the regeneration of the tissue by fat injection.

Scalp micropigmentation (SMP):

It is a technique initially developed by a tattoo artist; it consists in doing a tattoo on the scalp using specific medical pigments. This pigment is semi-permanent.

In decreasing the scar’s whiteness, the contrast with the rest of the hair is less visible. On the other hand, the SMP treatment can intensify the result of a previous hair transplant, bringing more density.

This new treatment requires an experienced team to reach a natural effect.

Stem cell therapy

Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is an alternative medical treatment that helps to treat hair loss linked with androgenic alopecia. It induces the tissue regeneration by harnessing patient’s own biological materials. The principle is to harvest stem cells from the patient’s body.

Stem cells have a differentiation capability.

Stel cells reservoirs are located at the root of the hair, all along the hair sheath under the skin. When the hair starts its last stage, stem cells are activated and create a new hair bulb. This process is known as morphogenesis. We wish to underline that the hair is the only element of the human body to possess the capacity to regenerate completely.

During androgenic alopecia, this process slows down, stem cells remain inactive and we can observe the hair follicle atrophies.

Avaneo is an institute which provides Rigenera, an efficient method based on stem cell research that facilitates replacement or repair of damaged and defective tissue.

This treatment is well suited for patients who suffer from a recent hair loss. It is possible to obtain results from the very first session.

Scalp micropigmentation

Scalp micropigmentation (SMP)

SMP or Scalp micropigmentation is a new medical treatment, a real alternative for your hair loss. The principle lies in introducing a special medical ink, a specific pigment into your dermis.

This pigment meets all the medical safety standards: each drop of this ink is encapsulated in sterile condition. The SMP treatment represents a controlled medical therapy in contrast to inks used by tattoo artists.

This encapsulation isolates the components of ink from the human body which reduces considerably the risk of allergic reactions.

On the other part, the size of the ink drop is 20µ, that means it can be absorbed by the macrophages, cells in charge of cleaning the organism. The macrophages’ action explains the reversibility of the cutaneous coloration in less than 3 years because the pigment is progressively eliminated. The ink used by tattoo artists measures 30µ which is impossible to eliminate by the body.

The depth of the introduction into the dermis is equally different, superficial at 0,5 with a SMP treatment and 2 mm deep when being tattooed.

Finally, the system (motor and needle) has been specifically designed for the scalp and the beard in order to leave the right quantity of pigment and adaptable to all scalp characteristics.

This treatment can be an excellent solution in several situations. Beneath you find the necessary criteria to benefit from a SMP treatment:

  • Alopecia areata;
  • Progressive alopecia with hair follicle miniaturization,
  • Complete baldness;
  • In addition to a previous hair transplant;
  • To cover a scar.

What are the advantages of a SMP treatment?

  • It provides a shaven effect on bald spots,
  • It ensures a densification of your hair,
  • It can cover a FUT scar or the moth-eaten appearance of a previous FUE procedure.

The NHT team has attended seminars, international workshops and a specific training session in Italy in order to offer you the most suitable treatment.
